Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) continues its 13th season with one of the most celebrated plays in American theatre, Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, running Oct. 23 through Nov. 2 on ECTC’s stage in Grand Boulevard Town Center.
At the center of this classic story is Amanda Wingfield, a once-elegant Southern belle clinging to memories of her youth while fighting to secure a better future for her family. Torn between dreams and reality, Amanda leans heavily on her children: Tom, restless and eager to break free, and Laura, shy and fragile but longing for genuine connection. When a “gentleman caller” arrives, the Wingfields’ world begins to unravel.
“The Glass Menagerie has stood the test of time because it speaks to all of us,” says ECTC Producing Artistic Director Nathanael Fisher. “Williams’ story captures the beauty and heartbreak of family, memory, and the dreams that shape who we become even when they slip through our fingers. These themes remain just as important today, reflecting the challenges, hopes, and connections that continue to define our lives”
Performances take place Thursdays-Saturdays at 7 p.m., as well as Sundays and Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m., in ECTC’s intimate theatre located upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard, Suite 200, in Grand Boulevard Town Center. Patrons are invited to arrive early and enjoy pre-show drinks in the lobby and lounge, featuring artwork by local artists sponsored by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County.
The production is helmed by Director Nathanael Fisher with Set & Lighting Design by Rebeca Lake, Costume Design by Taylor Walker, Sound Design/Engineering/Stage Management by Cailey Mize, Set Carpentry by Carl Hendin, Properties & Assistant Stage Manager Ora Wolfgram, and Production Assistance by Bella Fisher.
The cast features Anita ‘Jo’ Lenhart, returning from ECTC’s Always a Bridesmaid, as Amanda Wingfield; Cara Chesney as Laura Wingfield; Tommy Thams, last seen in ECTC’s Jersey Boys, as Tom Wingfield; and Logon Polson as Jim O’Connor, whose past ECTC credits include Jersey Boys, Mary Poppins, and more.
