HSU Pub Fridays are informal, no cost social gatherings of STEM professionals, aspiring entrepreneurs, and imagineers. Attendees will be offered beer, food, and fun all while learning something new! About the speaker:
Steve Loken, P.E., F. SAME, Lt Col (USAF ret) is the Deputy Base Civil Engineer in the 1st Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron (1 SOCES) at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The squadron operates and maintains 1212 facilities concentrated on 6634 acres, including all utilities. As the senior civilian in the squadron, he is responsible for leading the daily activities of 328 personnel with an annual operating budget of $13M. He also represents the base with the Eglin/Hurlburt Community Partnership Program and Okaloosa County Economic Development Council Technology Coast Manufacturing and Engineering Network. He was previously employed by a local engineering firm where he designed commercial and aviation related projects, in addition to being involved with the Eglin Community Partnership Program. His 20-year active-duty Civil Engineering Officer career culminated as the 1 SOCES Squadron Commander and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Steve is a registered professional engineer in the state of Florida and a Fellow in the Society of American Military Engineers.
