Two New Statues to be Unveiled at Annual Women Veterans Day Event
Okaloosa Island – Okaloosa County will hold the 3rd Annual Women Veterans’ Day ceremony on June 12, 2025 at 8 a.m. at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center. A wreath-laying ceremony will follow at Women Veterans Monuments at Veterans Park. Col. Kristen Wood, Commander 1st Special Operations Mission Support Group will be this year’s keynote speaker. Okaloosa County Recognizes Scouting America Troop 544 for Finding Missing Child
Okaloosa County, Florida – Okaloosa County Board Chairman Paul Mixon proudly presented a proclamation to the scouts of Troop 544 to recognize them for their role in helping locate a missing 11-year-old autistic child in April this year. Scouts were gathering for their weekly meeting on April 7 at their Scout Hut near Ferry Park in Fort Walton Beach when they were approached by local law enforcement. World’s Largest Lionfish Tournament Succeeds in Removing Over 20,000 Invasive Species

The weather is warming up and so is the mosquito breeding season. In an effort to minimize the nuisance of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne disease, our Mosquito Control Technicians have begun regular night spraying operations to begin one hour before sunset.
