Something changed in the last year and it never made the local news.
Reported ransomware attacks in the US jumped about 50% through the first ten months of 2025. Roughly 5,000 incidents, up from about 3,300 the year before. And that’s only the ones that got reported.
Here’s the number that should stop a small business owner cold. Last year, ransomware was involved in 88% of breaches at small and mid-sized companies. At large companies, it was 39%.
Read that again. The smaller you are, the more likely it is the thing that hits you.
