Taster Tickets on Sale for the 9th Annual Eggs on the Beach Cooking Competition

Taster tickets are on sale now for the 9th Annual Eggs on the Beach Big Green Egg Cooking Competition to be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach. Tasters enjoy unlimited bites, and receive five votes to vote for their favorites and award the 2023 People’s Choice Awards. 

Presented by Bay Breeze Patio, the event has become one of the most popular and anticipated cooking competitions in the region. More than 20 cook teams will compete for cash and prizes. Tasters sample unlimited bites and vote for their top five favorites to award the “People’s Choice” Awards, while five honorary judges will present the coveted Judge’s trophies based on taste, creativity and presentation. 

“We are consistently impressed by the cook teams’ creativity, and the diversity of bites presented,” said Bay Breeze Patio Co-owner and Co-founder of EOTB Wayne Paul. “We’re looking forward to welcoming back our previous participants as well as welcoming first time competitors. In addition, we’re excited to add a new category this year with a Kids Competition to celebrate the next generation of grill masters.”

Cook Teams create bite size portions of their favorite recipes to be judged by the public as well as honorary judges. Each team of up to six is given a large or extra-large Big Green Egg to cook their masterpiece during the competition. Tasters vote for their favorites, as teams vie for bragging rights and prizes, including the grand prize, a brand new large Big Green Egg. In addition to the People’s Choice Awards, Cook Teams may compete for Judge’s Awards, and Non-profit Teams Awards, which includes a cash donation toward their cause.

New to this year’s event, Eggs on the Beach will include a Junior Chefs Competition. Open to five youth cook teams, the junior cook team category will allow young chefs, ages 8-14, an opportunity to showcase their talents and compete for bragging rights, medals and cash prizes. Junior Cook Teams may include up to five youth chefs and one adult chef per team. Junior grillers will present their bite to the honorary judges who will evaluate each bite based on taste and presentation. 

Presented by Bay Breeze Patio, the family-friendly event benefits two local charities--the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast and Food for Thought. Providing a home away from home for military families during medical treatment, Fisher House of the Emerald Coast serves those who have served our country. Fighting food insecurity among area students, Food for Thought provides backpacks filled with healthy foods to students in need. In addition, these two charity partners along with other non-profit organizations will have cook teams will compete for taster votes to earn cash donations toward their cause. 

The cooking competition will be enhanced with live music by Dan Collins and Becca of Black Eyed Blonde, as well a chance to win a Mini-Max Big Green Egg. Beer, wine, cocktails, water and sodas will also be available for purchase at the Tiki Bar. Cook teams will be rewarded with complementary beer by Abita Beer Company.

For those who have thought of owning a Big Green Egg, Demo Eggs, which are used during the competition, are available for pre-sale at a discounted price. Demo Eggs are available in Large or XLarge and come with a nest (metal stand), rubber mat and plate setter along with a limited lifetime warranty. Demo Eggs will be available for pick-up between 3 – 5 p.m. on October 14. 

For those who are interested in owning a Big Green Egg, Demo Eggs, which will be used during the event, will be sold in advance with nest (metal stand) and plate setter for a discounted price. Both large and XLarge Eggs will be sold and all come with a limited lifetime warranty and a complementary ticket to attend Eggs on the Beach. Demo Eggs can be picked up after the event, between 3-4 p.m. on October 14. 

Taster tickets are on-sale now for $45 in advance and include unlimited bites, live music, and Bacardi samples for participants ages 21+. Tickets are $18 for children (ages 11-17) and kids ages 10 and under are free. In addition, a limited number of cook teams spots remain for the main event as well as Non-Profit and Youth Cook Team categories.
