Sinfonia Youth Orchestra Performs Free Spring Concerts May 4

DESTIN, FL (April 7, 2025) – Sinfonia Youth Orchestra’s spring concert promises a musical journey through the cosmos. Gather with family and friends to hear joyous music performed by the Sinfonia Youth Orchestras in concert on Sunday, May 4.

Entitled “Spring Concert: Out of This World,” the concert is a fun family-friendly annual tradition that showcases the talent of our area’s finest young musicians.

This year’s concerts, which are free and open to the public, will feature After School Beginning Strings, Sinfonietta Strings, Intermediate Strings and Chamber Group performing at 2 p.m. and the Chamber Group and the Symphonic Orchestra performing at 5 p.m.

Audiences will get to see the full gamut of ability in our Music Education programs from the beginning students who have been playing for about a year to the graduating seniors. Music selections will invoke images of space in the listener as many intergalactic anthems are played such as themes from the Star Wars franchise and Holst’s Themes from The Planets.

“This performance is set to be our most exciting yet. Our students are thrilled to take you on a journey through planetary themes and anthems,” said Sinfonia Youth Orchestra music director Margaret Gordon.

In addition to the music performance, the 5 p.m. concert will include a salute to the graduating high school seniors and the presentation of the 2025 Grace Fulcher Memorial Scholarship to one senior.

“The leadership from our seniors has allowed our ensemble to grow in incredible ways and I am looking forward to recognizing them for their efforts and commitment. Each one has a bright future ahead of them and we are so excited to see what they will do next!” Gordan said.

“Education is the centerpiece of Sinfonia. It was founded in 2005 not only for its entertainment value, but for the fact that Northwest Florida needed an organization that could be the proponent for arts education in schools, specifically music education,” said Sinfonia Gulf Coast Music & Artistic Director Demetrius Fuller. “The Sinfonia Youth Orchestra program is wonderful catalyst for local young musicians to expand their musical talents, but it would not be a full experience without an audience, so we hope everyone will come out to and support our youth orchestras.”
