Okaloosa County School District Earns Prestigious Purple Star District Designation

Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the Okaloosa County School District has been named one of only five districts in Florida to earn the prestigious Purple Star District designation. This honor reflects the district’s unwavering dedication to supporting military-connected students and their families, ensuring smooth transitions, access to vital resources, and academic success. The Purple Star District designation means that every Okaloosa County School District school has met the rigorous requirements to be named a Purple Star School of Distinction. This recognition underscores the district’s commitment to going above and beyond for those who serve our country.

Superintendent Marcus Chambers expressed his pride in this achievement: “Earning the Purple Star District designation is a testament to the incredible work of our schools and staff. We are deeply committed to supporting military families and ensuring their children thrive in our schools. This honor validates our efforts to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all military-connected students.”

The Okaloosa County School District is privileged to support the highest percentage of military students in any Florida county.
