Okaloosa County Approved for more than $4 million in State Funding

Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners has been approved to receive $4,325,000 million in state funding following the signing of the State’s $117.6 billion budget by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday, June 29, 2026. Okaloosa County submitted legislative priorities to the Legislature regarding improved infrastructure and continued support for mental health and substance abuse diversion.
 
Projects include:
Okaloosa-Walton Mental Health and Substance Abuse Pre-Trial Diversion Program - $325,000 
Millside Road Improvements - $1,500,000
West 98 Collector Road - $1,000,000
Shalimar Bridge Park Project - $1,500,000
Total: $4,325,000

“We can’t thank Senators Don Gaetz and Jay Trumbull and Representatives Patt Maney and Nathan Boyles enough for their tireless work in Tallahassee,” said Okaloosa County Board Chairman Trey Goodwin.  “The funding for these projects will help offset other costs within the County. We appreciate Gov. DeSantis for recognizing the needs of our residents.”
