Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, one of the Emerald Coast’s most cherished attractions, is celebrating a remarkable milestone—its 70th anniversary. Since first opening its doors on Aug. 14, 1955, the Gulfarium has delighted generations with unforgettable marine animal experiences while becoming a regional leader in ocean conservation and animal care.
As one of the world’s original oceanariums, the Gulfarium has grown into a modern-day hub for marine education, rescue, and engagement. Over the decades, dolphins have leapt into the hearts of visitors, rescued sea turtles have returned to their ocean home, and countless families have created lifelong memories at the park.
“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate 70 years of inspiring connections between people and marine life,” said Patrick Berry, CEO at the Gulfarium. “This milestone is not just about our past—it’s about our future. We’re looking forward to a year filled with community celebration, conservation, and meaningful moments with our animals and guests.”
The Gulfarium’s 70th anniversary celebration officially kicks off in August and continues throughout the year with exciting events, exclusive anniversary merchandise, and special programming:
August 10–17: Anniversary Membership Sale – Enjoy unlimited visits with reduced pricing on annual memberships.
August 16–17: Special Admission Days – Guests of all ages can visit the park for just $19.55, a nostalgic throwback to the year the Gulfarium opened.
Visitors can also look forward to members-only events, community engagement programs, and more surprises still to be announced.
The anniversary arrives on the heels of major achievements at the park. In 2023, the Gulfarium debuted Dolphin Oasis, a $24 million expansion that provides state-of-the-art habitats and enhanced guest experiences. In addition, Manatee Cove, a $3.5 million habitat developed in partnership with the Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP), now provides long-term care for rescued manatees. One of its most notable residents, Romeo—the oldest known manatee in human care at over 70 years old—serves as a poignant symbol of the park’s legacy.
Since 2015, the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center has also played a vital role in conservation, rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing hundreds of endangered sea turtles along the Gulf Coast.
Throughout its 70-year history, the Gulfarium has remained focused on its mission to educate, entertain, and inspire. With a legacy rooted in innovation and a vision set on the future of marine life, the park invites locals and visitors alike to be part of this historic celebration.
