Gulfarium CARE Center Welcomes Eight Cold-Stunned Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtles in Critical Rescue Effort

The Gulfarium CARE Center is proud to announce the arrival of eight cold-stunned Kemp’s ridley sea turtles now receiving life-saving care as part of a collaborative rescue effort led by Turtles Fly Too. This initiative highlights the power of partnerships in marine conservation and underscores the ongoing commitment to protecting one of the most endangered species of sea turtles in the world.

The turtles, transported from the New England Aquarium to facilities across Florida, arrived to the CARE Center on Dec. 10, after being rescued from frigid northern waters. Upon arrival, they were affectionately given festive names, including Frosty, Garland, Jingle, Joy Kringle, Snow, Tinsel, and Winter. They are now receiving critical treatment and, to date, are doing well under the care of our dedicated team.

“These turtles are remarkable fighters, and it’s an honor to be part of the effort to nurse them back to health,” said Tabby Siegfried, Gulfarium CARE Center Coordinator. “The collaboration between organizations like Turtles Fly Too and our dedicated team allows us to give these animals the best chance for recovery.”

The Gulfarium CARE Center has a long-standing history of providing care for sea turtles, offering medical treatment, rehabilitation, and the expertise needed to help them thrive. The Kemp’s ridley sea turtles now under care received thorough evaluations, supportive therapies, and ongoing monitoring continues to ensure their health improves. Once fully rehabilitated, they will be returned to the ocean, where they can contribute to their fragile population.

As the turtles continue their recovery journey, the Gulfarium CARE Center invites the public to follow along. “Every turtle’s story is a testament to resilience and the impact of teamwork,” added Tabby Siegfried. “We’re excited to share their progress and show the incredible results of conservation efforts in action.”
