Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center 2023 Recap

2023 Year in Review

2023 was a huge year at the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center! With a record number of sea turtles treated, multiple turtles tagged for research, and remarkable rehabilitation stories, this is certainly a year we will not soon forget.

We cared for 133 sea turtles in 2023, and successfully released 119 turtles! With 3 turtles still currently in rehab at the C.A.R.E. Center, our overall rehabilitation success rate for the year was 92%! Of those 119 released turtles, 75 were Loggerheads, 31 were Kemp's ridleys, and 13 were Greens. These numbers do not include hatchlings.

Roughly 41% of our turtle patients from 2023 were fishing-related incidents from Navarre Beach Fishing Pier. 33% of our turtles were re-captures, meaning they've been patients at the C.A.R.E. Center before. We were also able to successfully satellite tag 5 individuals, two of which were adult male Loggerheads. You can actively track Tank, one of those adult male Loggerheads, here.

We're so grateful you're here. This year would not have been the success that it was without your support and generosity. For regular updates on current patients and public release announcements, follow us on social media through the links below!

The Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, which means we rely on the support of generous people like you! You can support by donating through our website, or by donating items from our Amazon Wishlist. These donations help the C.A.R.E. Center function in the best way possible, including maintaining our facilities and providing necessary medical care for our sea turtle patients.

Your generosity and support means the world - together we can help save our sea turtles here on the Emerald Coast and beyond!

Join us for the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center's inaugural sea turtle fundraiser, C.A.R.E. on the Coast, on May 4th, 2024! This family-friendly fundraiser event will directly benefit the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center and their sea turtle conservation efforts.

The event will include after-hours access to Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, food and beverage vendors, live music, a dolphin presentation, silent auction, raffles, and more!

This event will also include an in-depth look at what goes into the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of a stranded or injured sea turtle, with tours of the C.A.R.E. Center and hands-on activities with the C.A.R.E. Center team.

Mark your calendars now, tickets will go on sale starting February 8!  https://my.onecause.com/event/organizations/88dc66a4-3e5f-4b37-8f38-ccd2b1e3b929/events/vevt:b93d65d0-2998-4bd3-a894-7c38f3c2b52a/home/story?__s=fqdjwi2x7wqpgqdt1cmo
