Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) and Panama City Comedy are proud to present Comedy at the Boulevard, Friday, June 28, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Come for an uproarious night of laughs! ECTC presents some of the Southeast’s most hilarious comedians! This hysterical event will be hosted by resident funny guy Jason Hedden and features headliner Joel Byars, feature act Joey Nickel and special guests Malcolm Xavier and Scotty Jernigan.
Jason Hedden (host):
Jason Hedden is an actor, director, comedian and producer from Panama City, Florida where he produces monthly shows with Panama City Comedy. He has been seen at StarDome,The Comedy Catch, Stand Up Live, Comedy Bar, Laughing Skull Lounge, Dothan Opera House and dozens of other venues throughout the southeast. Jason has performed at the Red Clay Comedy Festival, Pensacola Indie Fringe and Comedy Festival, West End Comedy Festival, Gulf Coast Comedy Festival, Blue Ridge Comedy Festival, P3 Comedy Fest and Sand Up Comedy Festival. Joel Byars (headliner):
Most recently voted Atlanta’s Best Clean Comedian, Joel Byars has been featured on Dry Bar Comedy, Sirius XM, and more. He also owns the Joel Byars Clean Comedy Academy and hosts the award winning Hot Breath! Podcast showcasing over 400 interviews with comedians. Joel is a big believer in the power of comedy and has worked with many organizations like National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and American Cancer Society to bring the joy of comedy to their members. His comedy mission is to share a refreshingly fun and family-friendly comedy style that connects people of all ages and backgrounds.
Joey Nickel (feature):
Joey was the 2022 Champion of the Savannah Comedy Competition. Since his stand-up comedy debut at the 8th grade talent show, Joey Nickel has been addicted to making people laugh. In 2014 he quit his job at Apple and today relies solely on stand-up comedy and his wife's income to support his family of 5. In the wake of isolation and live comedy shows closing in 2020 he began his hugely successful web series "Comedy Super Friends" and continues to produce episodes if he feels like it. Currently he runs CSF live shows every first week of each month in the Jacksonville area. He has been described as clean and hairy both in comedy style and appearance. You can catch him regularly at the Jacksonville Comedy Zone and Madcaps Comedy Club and other clubs, bars, breweries, and Mexican restaurants all around the nation.
Scotty Jernigan (special guest):
Scotty Jernigan (special guest) is a stand up comic from Panama City, Florida. He has joyfully mastered the art of the one-liner. When he’s not touring the Southeast, he performs regularly with Panama City Comedy and had a residency at the Lie’brary Comedy Cafe. When Scotty’s not on stage you can find him doing character voices for his newborn and reading about odd animal facts.
Malcolm Xavier (special guest):
Malcolm Xavier (special guest) is not your average comedian - he's a fresh-faced sensation making waves across the Southeast with his unique brand of humor. As the mastermind behind Panama City's premier comedy open mic, Malcolm knows how to keep audiences roaring with laughter from start to finish. Born and bred in Georgia, Malcolm brings a southern charm infused with boundless creativity and absurdity to the stage. Brace yourself for an evening filled with unexpected twists, outrageous tales that are more likely to have you laughing at him than with him!
Comedy at the Boulevard will be staged on the Cabaret Stage in ECTC’s main space located on the second floor of 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard Town Center in Miramar Beach.
