City of Destin Announces Storm Debris Collection

The City of Destin will begin storm debris collection on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026. Crews will operate from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week, beginning in West Destin, with one collection truck assigned to the Crystal Beach area. Collection will continue systematically throughout the City.

Residents are asked to avoid parking on City streets to allow collection equipment to operate safely. Vegetative debris, including trees, branches, and limbs, should be placed in loose piles along the public right-of-way, separate from construction and demolition debris. Do not bag vegetative debris or mix it with household garbage. Keep debris away from roadways, sidewalks, storm drains, mailboxes, and utility equipment.

For everyone's safety, keep children and pedestrians away from debris piles and collection equipment. Different types of debris will be collected separately, and crews may return to neighborhoods multiple times. Residents should not be concerned if some debris remains after a collection truck passes.

We ask for everyone's patience and understanding throughout this process. Hurricane Isaias has left a significant amount of debris across our community, and removal will take time. Crews will work diligently to restore normal conditions as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and will continue providing updates as collection progresses.
