The Okaloosa County School District (OCSD) is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. This annual celebration honors the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic Americans and their lasting impact on Florida’s history and success. To mark the occasion, OCSD is hosting its annual door decorating, art, and essay contests, inviting students and staff to express their appreciation for Hispanic heritage creatively. These activities not only highlight culture but also foster learning and engagement across all grade levels.
This year’s theme is Celebrating Florida’s Hispanic Heritage. In addition to district-wide contests, students are encouraged to participate in the statewide art and essay competitions sponsored by Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis. These contests provide a platform for students to showcase their talents while reflecting on the importance of Hispanic contributions to our state and nation.
“We’re excited to see our students and educators embrace this opportunity to learn, create, and celebrate,” said Superintendent Marcus Chambers. “Hispanic Heritage Month is a meaningful time to recognize the diverse voices that shape our communities and classrooms.”
