The Be the Magic Foundation, run by managed IT provider Bit-Wizards, took its holiday tradition of supporting the local community to a whole new level. This year's partnership involved Fresh Start For Children & Families, an organization dedicated to providing comprehensive educational, vocational, and economic housing programs that help homeless families achieve self-sufficiency.
Because the families at Fresh Start are in the process of rebuilding their financial independence, parents who wish they could treat their kids to the spirit of the season cannot. The Be the Magic team set out to bring magic to these children by gifting them everything on their wish lists. The team spent over two weeks gathering and organizing the gifts, ranging from classic playsets to high-tech toys.
Once the presents were purchased, the Bit-Wizards staff wrapped each one with care and delivered them to Fresh Start, giving the families some extra joy this holiday season. While this is not the first or last Be the Magic contribution to Fresh Start, it is the most significant by far. In total, 34 children from 17 families received 302 gifts.
"As a child of an enlisted active-duty military member in the 70s and 80s, I grew up understanding the value of hard work and sacrifice. My parents didn't have much disposable income, but my mother made sure our birthdays and Christmases were magical. She saved tirelessly, clipped coupons, collected refundable bottles, and even recycled aluminum cans to ensure my sisters and I had something special to remember. That experience taught me that everyone deserves a magical Christmas. For the families at Fresh Start, many of whom have fled difficult circumstances with nothing but the clothes on their backs or have been living out of their cars, this time of year can be especially challenging. That's why, for the past four years, Bit-Wizards and TalkingParents have made it our mission to bring the joy of Christmas to these families. Our entire team comes together to fulfill their wish lists, carefully wrapping and delivering gifts so that these children and parents can feel valued, regain hope, and experience the magic of the season as they work toward self-sufficiency. It's an honor to give back and help create a Christmas they'll always remember," explained Vince W. Mayfield, President, Be the Magic Foundation.
