JVC Broadcasting, Panama City is extending Fort Walton Beach’s 92.1 The Bone giving the Florida Panhandle ‘The Bone’. At 9am Friday, WYYX-97.7fm will morph into a simulcast of the wide variety rocker 92.1 The Bone.
92.1 & 97.7 The Bone’s two signals combine to form one of the largest consecutive rock stations in the state of Florida. The Bone is specifically designed for rock fans who crave real variety and fun contests. Playing over six decades, spanning the genres of rock and digging deeper with your favorite rock artists. The new 92.1 & 97.7 The Bone will be the station where you will hear thousands of songs from rock staples to something you’ve never heard before and songs you haven’t heard in a few decades.
To welcome Panama City and Dothan to ’The Bone’ we will be playing ten days of commercial free rock starting Friday (8/29) at 9am and rolling through Sunday (9/7).
A new full line-up of on-air host will take to the air on Monday (9/8). 6-10a - Matt Stone with Wake and Bake Mornings / 10a-3p – Ski with the No Repeat Workday / 3-7p – Mary Jo in The Afternoon / 7-Midnight – Eddie RBG at Night / Midnight-6am – Roxy on the 3rd Shift
John Caracciolo, Owner of JVC Broadcasting, said the move was about giving fans exactly what they asked for: “92.1 The Bone became a success because we listened to the listeners. They wanted more variety, fewer commercials, and a station that actually feels alive. Bringing The Bone to Panama City Beach wasn’t just a business decision—it was an answer to the audience. The people wanted something different and now they’ve got it.”
Matt Stone, Director of Programming, explained “We’ve proven in Fort Walton Beach that creating rock radio for rock music fans works. Listeners are more engaged, they’re passionate, and they’re telling us every day this is what they’ve been waiting for. We can’t wait to share the Bone with Panama City and Southern Alabama.”
John Griffo, Market Manager for both Fort Walton Beach and Panama City, emphasized the listening experience: “Rock listeners are tired of repetition and endless commercials. At The Bone, we keep the focus where it belongs—on the music. That’s why we run limited commercials and feature three daily 92-minute commercial-free blocks. Since the launch in December our WBON-FM app has thousands of downloads all over the world. This isn’t just another radio station; it’s a movement and now, that movement covers Panama City Beach, too.”
