Commissioner Palmer invites the public to a town hall meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025 at 3 p.m., at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center to discuss plans for a 4-acre parcel of land on Holiday Isle that was recently purchased by the State of Florida to be used as a public park to be developed and operated by the County.
There will be a brief presentation by County staff and an opportunity for the public to speak and give their input on this unique waterfront property.
“This is an amazing opportunity to create something special on that property for the benefit of Okaloosa County residents and visitors,” said Okaloosa County Commissioner Drew Palmer (District 5). “We are committed to keeping this process open to the public and value their input as we move toward finalizing the details of this endeavor.”
The property includes stunning views of the Destin East Pass and Destin Harbor and includes access to the adjoining Norriego Park. Previously permitted as a dense multi-story condominium project, the property includes a new 53-slip marina and sea walls, but it is otherwise a blank 4-acre waterfront canvas. The County has pledged $5 million toward park improvements and is just in the beginning stages of developing the concepts for the property.
