Sinfonia Gulf Coast welcomes back Broadway favorite Nicholas Rodriguez for Toast ’n Jam: Sincerely, Sondheim, a special Valentine’s weekend concert celebrating the life, music and enduring influence of legendary composer Stephen Sondheim.
This brunch with live music performance takes place Sunday, Feb. 15 at 10:30 a.m., at Hotel Effie in Miramar Beach, offering an intimate and immersive way to experience Sondheim’s brilliance through song and storytelling.
A familiar and much-loved presence on the Sinfonia Gulf Coast stage, Rodriguez has become a crowd favorite through memorable appearances at Crescendo!, Holiday Pops and Get Happy, the Judy Garland tribute with Morgan James
Direct from the Tony Award–winning revival of Company, Rodriguez brings his soaring voice and charismatic stage presence to Sincerely, Sondheim, a deeply personal concert inspired by the composer’s handwritten letters. Weaving together music, memories and reflections, the program explores Sondheim’s friendships with icons including Oscar Hammerstein II, Jerry Herman, Jonathan Larson and Lin-Manuel Miranda, while bringing to life beloved selections from Company, Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods and other Sondheim classics. Repertoire varies by performance, reflecting the emotional depth and enduring brilliance of Sondheim’s artistry.
Joining Rodriguez onstage on piano is John McDaniel, a Grammy- and Emmy Award–winning music director, composer and arranger whose Broadway credits include Company, Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun and Bonnie and Clyde. McDaniel recently served as music director for Carol Burnett’s 90th Birthday Special on NBC, which earned an Emmy Award, and has collaborated with some of Broadway and popular music’s most celebrated artists.
“This concert is everything we love about Sinfonia Gulf Coast—extraordinary artists, meaningful storytelling and music that speaks straight to the heart,” says Demetrius Fuller, founder and music director of Sinfonia Gulf Coast. “Celebrating Stephen Sondheim’s legacy with Nicholas Rodriguez during our 20th anniversary season makes this a truly special moment, and sharing it as a Valentine’s weekend experience makes it a must-not-miss gift for the Emerald Coast.”
Rodriguez recently appeared on Broadway opposite Patti LuPone and Katrina Lenk in Company and toured nationally as Captain Georg von Trapp in The Sound of Music. A 2024 Grammy nominee, his career spans Broadway, television, film and concert stages, with performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and the Boston Pops.
Tickets for Toast ’n Jam: Sincerely, Sondheim with Nicholas Rodriguez are $125 per person, which includes the live performance, brunch and gratuities. Limited front-row seating is available for $195 per person. Seating is limited, and early purchase is strongly recommended.
Proceeds from the event benefit Sinfonia Gulf Coast and support its music education and community engagement initiatives throughout Northwest Florida.
