Destin Chamber's Ladies Who Launch Powerhouse Women Series Sponsored by Toxic Freedom & Featuring Catherine Card

Ladies Who Launch is continuing its Powerhouse Women Series, highlighting impactful women in our community. The August 2025 Powerhouse Woman is Catherine Card, Public Information Officer with the Okaloosa County School District.

Catherine Card grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University, as well as a Master of Public Administration from the University of West Florida. She began her public service career at the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office as the Community Relations Coordinator, where she led public awareness campaigns, conducted media interviews, managed social media, and provided photography and videography support to communicate critical initiatives.

Catherine also served internationally, spending two years in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, working with the U.S. State Department in the U.S. Embassy’s Community Liaison Office. Upon returning to Florida, she continued her public service as the Public Information Manager for the City of Destin and now serves as the Public Information Officer for the Okaloosa County School District.

With over 20 years of experience in communications, media relations, and crisis communication, Catherine has also taught as an adjunct professor at Northwest Florida State College and remains active in the community. She has volunteered with multiple nonprofits, served as PTO President at Bluewater Elementary, and currently serves on the School Advisory Councils for both Ruckel Middle School and Niceville High School. She is also a mentor with the Take Stock in Children program, helping guide and support local students as they prepare for college and future careers.

Catherine is married to Michael Card, a retired Administration Bureau Chief with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. They have four children and two grandchildren.
