Ladies Who Launch is continuing its Powerhouse Women Series, highlighting impactful women in our community. The August 2024 Powerhouse Woman is Monica Wallis, P.E., Operations Manager for Destin Water Users, Inc. Thank you to sponsor Stretch Zone for providing lunch to our guests!

A native to Destin, Monica is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelors and Masters in Civil Engineering, as well as from Troy University with a Masters in Public Administration. She was recently elected as the President of the Northwest Florida Utility Manager’s Council and is in her second year as Chair of the Florida Section AWWA Water Utility Council.  Monica is the past-chair of the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance Advisory Board. In the past decade, Monica has served as the State Scholarship chair for FES for three years (2009-2012), secretary of the Destin History & Fishing Museum board (2008-2012) and President of the Destin Elementary School PTO (2010-2012). She has been active in the community, currently serving as the Treasurer of the Destin Chamber, as well as being a graduate of the inaugural class of Destin Forward (2008) where she was honored with the Destin Forward Leadership award.  Her hobbies include scrapbooking, taking photos, being out on local waters and spending time with family.

Ladies Who Launch, a committee of the Destin Chamber, offers the Chamber's female membership a platform for strategic networking and relationship building, while training, motivating and inspiring those members.
