Ladies Who Launch is continuing its Powerhouse Women Series, highlighting impactful women in our community. The February 2024 Powerhouse Woman is Michele Nicholson, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer.
In her current role, Nicholson oversees communication outreach and public responses for the OCSO. She handles all social media content and news releases, video production, brochures, media relations and citizen education. Prior to joining OCSO, she spent 22 years as a news reporter, news director, bureau chief and co-anchor on radio and TV.
Nicholson has served on the boards of directors for the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society and Air Force Armament Museum and is a founding member of the Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women. She is a former Regional Director of the Florida Law Enforcement Public Information Officers Association and has served the Fort Walton Beach Rotary, Okaloosa American Heart Association and the United Way Emerald Coast.
Ladies Who Launch, a committee of the Destin Chamber, offers the Chamber's female membership a platform for strategic networking and relationship building, while training, motivating and inspiring those members.
