Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) will celebrate its Spring 2026 Commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 8, at Raider Arena on the Niceville campus, recognizing graduates who have completed associate and bachelor’s degree programs across a wide range of disciplines.
As part of the College’s America 250 commemoration, this year’s commencement speaker will be Jonna Doolittle Hoppes, author, educator, and granddaughter of renowned World War II aviation leader General James “Jimmy” Doolittle.
Hoppes is known for preserving and sharing the legacy of the Doolittle Raiders, whose historic 1942 mission marked a turning point in World War II. Her work continues to connect new generations with the values of service, leadership, and resilience that define the American spirit.
“This commencement represents an important milestone for our graduates and their families,” said NWFSC President Mel Ponder. “We are proud to recognize their achievements and the dedication of our faculty in supporting, mentoring, and preparing them for success. We are also honored to welcome Jonna Doolittle Hoppes, whose family legacy reflects the courage and determination that continue to inspire our Raider community.”
The Doolittle Raiders’ connection to Northwest Florida remains a meaningful part of the College’s identity, rooted in the region’s strong ties to military training and service. This connection aligns with NWFSC’s participation in the national America 250 celebration, highlighting the College’s commitment to honoring history while preparing students for the future. Additional details about upcoming America 250 events will be shared at www.nwfsc.edu/America250
Family members, friends, and community members are invited to attend the ceremonies and celebrate the accomplishments of the Spring 2026 graduating class. Two commencement ceremonies will take place on May 8 at 10 AM and 2 PM. For more details on NWFSC’s Spring Commencement visit https://www.nwfsc.edu/commencement
