DESCRIPTION:The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries are delighted to announce the opening of "Campus Life\," a solo exhibition by painter Nan Liu\, MFA\, Ph.D. Dr. Liu is a traditionally trained Chinese painter and a contemporarily trained American portrait painter. He teaches drawing and painting at Florida A&M University. Half of his artworks are ink and watercolor paintings on paper specially produced in China\, which he picks up when he travels home to visit family. The other half are large-scale oil paintings on canvas. Dr. Liu's students and colleagues posed for these paintings\, which depict daily life on campus.\n\n \n\nWhen: Opening reception: Jan. 27\, 2023\, 6-8 p.m. \n\n            Artist talk and live painting: Jan. 27\, 2023\, 6:45 p.m.\n\nWhere: Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries \n\n             100 College Boulevard East\, Niceville\, FL 32578\n\nSpecial Guests: Musical performance by Dr. Haiqiong Deng\, Instructor of musicology at Florida State University. \n\nInstrument: GU Zheng\, a 27-string traditional Chinese instrument.\n\n \n\nThe event is free and open to the public.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtwork information: "Climbing" (2014)\, oil on canvas\, 6 x 6 feet.
